  • A little bit about Darling and Dear

We are Brittany + Nate of Darling and Dear Photography specializing in wedding, engagement and family portraiture. A little bit about us.... We are a soon to be hitched photography duo with two beautiful children Brutus & Miss Tasty (our cats). We love taking non-traditional and unique photos. We do a lot of our shoots in fields and the woods, because we love being in nature! (so if you shoot with us you better bring some boots) We're that young old couple that loves to go to antique shops on our days off to find props for photo shoots. Most importantly, we love seeing people in love! It's such an amazing privilege to be able to capture these moments, and can't wait to capture yours.

Sam + Michelle

We love when wedding season comes around, because it means we get to hang out with awesome couples. Nate and I were at a friends wedding in the fall when we were seated ever so conveniently next to Sam and Michelle. They were telling us the story of how Sam proposed in a park with candles, lanterns and a beautiful ring. Romantic.. right ladies??  Not long after the wedding, Michelle got a hold of us asking if we wanted to be their photographers! It was meant to be….

For once this year a session did not revolve around what kind of poo Nate stepped in…. bless his heart. It just seems to be his luck 99% of the time (he has a lot of shoes).  We like to generally advertise ourselves as natural light photographers, besides who wouldn’t want to be. When New York actually gets light its sun soaking GLORIOUS-NESS! and to be outside with all that fresh air, you forget about who watches too much football on a sunday in a jersey that hasn’t been washed in months or who forgets to fill the ice cube trays (i’m improving on this by the way)  :-) BUT in this case we made an exception. When we heard the story of how Sam proposed and how they wanted their photos to reflect it (which we love). We pondered for a while, and decided it would be fun to do part of the shoot indoors.

Every time we get with a couple, their is always something we remember them by. Whether it’s the type of shoot they do, how super trendy they are, a funny nickname they have for each other… In this case, it was the number of hot flashes we gave them. When Sam and Michelle showed up for their shoot we went for a walk through the woods (which was cold). Once we finished up outside we thought we would go to Panera and chit chat . You have to love the chocolate chip cookies. Anyways, when we arrived back at our apartment we lit 60 candles on a freshly polished floor and made them get right in the middle of it! Imagine being surrounded by 6o candles for a good half hour. It was HOT and i’m pretty sure pedestrians thought our home was on fire.

Bottom line, we can’t for this wedding. It’s going to be fun, beautiful, and if you get the chance to go we can’t wait to see you there!

This last one was clearly for our enjoyment. You’re welcome Sam:-)
